Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is the governing body of the Institution of Fire Engineers. Directors are Trustees for the Charity. The Board comprises 12 Directors who look after the interests of members and of the profession. The Board meets four times a year. The board establishes subordinate groups to carry out work for the Institution. Click here for details.

General Assembly

The General Assembly comprises a representative from each of the Institution's constituted Branches. The General Assembly meets twice a year normally in January and at the time of the AGM. The General Assembly operates in accordance with its framework document, to view the Constitution and Rules of Governance for the General Assembly, click here.

The Memorandum, Articles of Association and Byelaws are a statement of the Institution's objectives and laws. The document contains the rules that regulate the governance and management of the Institution through the Board of Directors. It is important that all members have an up-to-date copy of this document, and are aware of their rights and obligations.

The document also governs the formation and operation of the Institution's Branches and Groups. The Institution is a Company limited by guarantee and holds charitable status.
