Graduate Lecture 2007
The lecture, entitled The Art of Structural Fire Engineering, was delivered by Professor Colin Bailey BEng, PhD, CEng, FICE, MIStructE, MIFireE.

The lecture was followed by a series of presentations by final-year students competing for significant cash prizes sponsored by Marsh Limited.
First prize of £1,000 was awarded to Gareth Fitton of the University of Leeds for his presentation on The Effect of Buoyancy on Thermo-Gravimetric Analysis.

Second prize of £600 was presented to David Snorrason of the University of Edinburgh for his presentation, entitled Dalmarnock Fire Test 1.

Runners-up prizes of £350 were presented to Robert Ellingham of the University of Central Lancashire for his presentation, Vertical Evacuation and Movement on Stairs ; Stephen McAdam of Glasgow Caledonian University for his presentation, entitled A Correlation of the Predictions of Computer Fire Models With Actual Enclosure Fires; and to Gwen Rosario of the University of Leeds for her presentation on CFD Analysis of Convection in the Cone Calorimeter.

A number of leading fire organisations - including Arup, Bodycote Warringtonfire, Marsh Limited and IFSTA - participated by exhibiting and providing an insight into the wide range of careers open to young graduates.
