John Judd is the vice Chairman of the Institution's Board of Directors. He has been on the International Council and Board of Directors for over 20 years. He was the International President in 2003 and has been an active member for 32 years. John is passionate about the professional development of fire safety professionals and was responsible for developing the Institution's policy and guidance on Continuing Professional Development.
In his fire engineering career, John served for 38 years in fire and rescue services in the North West of England. He was Assistant Chief Fire Officer in Greater Manchester for ten years, working to develop community fire safety, fire investigation and the reform of fire safety legislation. He concluded his service by serving as Assistant Commissioner with the London Fire Brigade until the end of May 2006.
John was also a member of the Chief Fire Officers Fire Safety Committee and has led on policy development for Lead Authority Partnerships, False Alarms Reduction Strategies and Technical Standards.
He now provides consultancy services and continues his voluntary role in the Institution.
