Commemorative Coin Celebrates 10th Anniversary of US Branch
The Institution of Fire Engineers, United States of America Branch is celebrating its 10th anniversary as a chapter of this international fire service organization. In 1996, about 15 US fire service personnel met in Tulsa, Okla. to begin the framework that led to establishment of the US Branch. The Branch is now one of 23 worldwide which comprise over 11,000 members.
To recognize this 10 year milestone the Branch has commissioned a coin strike, in limited edition, to commemorate the occasion. Made of highly polished bronze metal (looks almost like gold bullion) the coin is a little larger than a silver dollar and depicts the IFE logo with 50 stars to honor the 50 United States; on the reverse is the Great Seal of the United States of America. The coin is sheathed in a protective mylar case, and comes with an acrylic stand for display purposes. Fire service members interested in obtaining a coin may go to the US Branch website at www.ife-usa.org. for more information.
