Bodycote Warrington Fire Research Prize for the Best Fire Safety Engineering Paper 2007

The Institution of Fire Engineers in conjunction with Bodycote Warrington Fire Research are delighted to announce a prize of £1000 for the best fire safety engineering paper. The best paper will be selected by an expert panel selected from the fire engineering community.

The closing date for entries will be the 30th May 2007 and the winner will be invited to receive the award at the AGM in Cambridge. In addition to the prize money an additional trophy will be presented by the IFE.

Papers should be submitted electronically and very wide range of subject areas can be covered including case studies, technical fire engineering and general fire safety issues.

Papers that are considered of an honourable mention will receive a certificate and may be published in appropriate journals.

Manuscripts should be formatted according to the following guidelines:

  1. Paper size: A4 (not US 'Letter' size)
  2. All margins should be set to 25mm
  3. All headings, author names, addresses, abstract and body text should be in Times New Roman. Figure and Table captions should be in Arial font. Arial may also be used in figures.
  4. Title: Should be IN CAPITALS, IN BOLD, CENTERED AND IN 16 POINT FONT
  5. Authors: Should be italicised, centred and in 12 point font
  6. Affiliations: Should be italicised, centred and in 12 point font
  7. Headings: Should be IN CAPITALS, IN BOLD AND IN 12 POINT FONT
  8. Body text: Should be justified and in 11 point font
  9. Line spacing: Should be single spacing throughout
  10. Abstract: Please include a single paragraph abstract of not more than 300 words
  11. References: Should be indicated in square brackets, e.g. [1], these should not be superscripted. Please list references in numerical order at the end of the paper
  12. Footnotes: Should be avoided wherever possible
  13. Paper length: Please do not exceed 10 pages
