How Much Does it Cost?

Fees 2009

For 2009, a full review of fees has been undertaken. The Institution is keen to reflect in its pricing the progressive nature of the Institution's examination structure and to encourage candidates to aspire to achieving a recognised qualification, by sitting the required papers at each level. Therefore, the following changes have been introduced:

At the Preliminary level, the fee has been reduced to £30 for 2009 to provide some assistance to candidates in the early stages of their career. 30% of papers taken worldwide in March 2008 were at this level.

At the higher levels, the 2009 fee for individual papers will be: £40 (Intermediate), £50 (Graduate) and £60 (Member). However, a considerable financial incentive will remain for candidates opting to sit both papers at Intermediate level (£25 per paper); four papers at Graduate level (£30 per paper) and, at the highest level of Member, all four papers can be undertaken for £140 (£35 per paper).

In 2008, only 14% of papers undertaken by candidates in March 2008 were at Member level, with Preliminary candidates being charged the same fee as those undertaking the highest level examinations. For 2009, the Institution has implemented a fairer system that better reflects the professional benefits gained by candidates.

Following this restructuring of exam fees, for 2010 and beyond, it is anticipated that any annual increase will be very small and in keeping with the usual rate of inflation increase applied to all subscriptions.
