Q: Can I defer my examination to the following year?
A: Candidates may defer their examination(s) in accordance with the following policy:
The Institution of Fire Engineers: Examination Deferrals
- All fees are non refundable.
- Deferral requests must be in writing by letter, fax or e-mail. Candidates should specify a valid reason for making the request; for example a medical condition confirmed by a certificate. (Lack of study time is not accepted as a valid reason.)
- Candidates can defer examinations for one year only.
- Deferral requests received by the Institution and in writing after the 31st December are subject to a £15.00 administration fee per paper.
