Fire Investigation & Research Special Interest Group

Overview of the Group
The Fire Investigation and Research Group will act as a focus group for IFE members in these closely related fields.
Under the ethos of "Investigate, Prove and Prevent" the aim of the Group is to strengthen links between Fire Investigation and Research.
This Group is for the benefit of a diverse range of members and organisations, not just for investigators and researchers. The wider fire protection industry, the insurance sectors, consumer groups, police, regulators and other all have a vested interest in the work of the Group. It is not intended to appeal to only advanced or experienced practitioners.
The Institution of Fire Engineers Fire Investigation and Research Group seek to:
- encourage open, professional discussion and debate,
- share experience and learning,
- promote awareness and value of FI&R to the community and the build environment,
- enhance the skill of practitioners,
- build a library of useful information that members can access,
- provide a focus and central contact for relevant groups, organisations and practitioners and
- identify patterns and trends in fire incidents that may benefit from further research/examination
