The last 19 years in service I completed 3 years in training and the remaining time as a Specialist Fire Safety Officer and as a Supervisory Officer in Operations since 1998. During this time I attended, as the initial Supervisory Oficer, two Major incidents declaring the first one a Major disaster upon arrival - Boscastle Floods August 2004; and secondly the tragic fire at the Penhallow Hotel, Newquay in August 2007. Additionally I have attended many water related incidents some with unfortunate outcomes. I have gained my Members and also HNC and HND in Fire Safety Studies and a European Confederation of Fire Protection Associations; Diploma in Fire Prevention and Management - CFPA (EU) Dip. I have attained both the NEBOSH General Certificate and Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate, and further qualifications in Critical Incident Stress Management. Currently I am the Treasurer for the South Western Branch (UK) for the Institution of Fire Engineers and in the past the postition of Secretary for the branch. I hold the position of General Assembly Alternate Member for the branch, and have been awarded Companion status in July 2008. I am a senior examiner for the Institutions' Level 3 certificate examinations. Examinations are of particular interest to me and I have been pushing the examinations of all grades here in the South West (UK) for at least 15 years. I have over the last 10 years with the assistance of the Branch held pre-study weeks for the Members Fire Engineering Science paper and have atrtracted students far and wisd. I continue to enlighten all within the Fire Industry and further afield of the benefits of this Worldwide Organisation, and have made some very close and dear friends along the way.
