In our 100th year, the IFE was delighted to return to the city of Edinburgh to host its 95th AGM, International Conference and Centenary Dinner which was kindly sponsored by UL. The theme for the conference mirrored the Institution's centenary theme of 'Young people and fire; reducing risks and saving lives'. Chief Officer Alasdair Hay from Scottish Fire and Rescue Service opened the conference with keynote speaker Dame Judith Hackitt opening day two to present the findings of the Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety. Our international speaker line-up presented topics including fire in young people's nightclubs, the career path in the fire industry, wildfires and how to give expert evidence as well as speakers from LABC, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, the NFPA and UL.

To commemorate our 100th anniversay, the IFE hosted its Centenary Dinner in the Grand Gallery of the National Museum of Scotland, held on the exact date the IFE was first formed a century ago.
