Synopsis
Brief Synopsis
A National Fire Service (NFS) section leader was killed when he was struck by a vehicle at an incident on the 14th March 1946 in Bournemouth (House & Settle, 2016).
Unknown author, 1946, states that the firefighter (Ff) was at a ‘rick fire’ when he was struck by a motor car and suffered a compound fracture of one leg and shock. The Ff was removed to Boscombe hospital where he died from suffocation during the progress of a surgical operation. During the subsequent inquest where evidence from 4 Doctors was heard, the coroner ‘decided the death was due to asphyxia’ (Unknown author, 1946).
