Synopsis
Brief Synopsis
A firefighter (Ff) died due to the injuries received falling from an appliance whilst responding to a fire call (House & Settle et al, 2016).
The Ff fell from the off-side of the appliance and suffered a fatal head injury. It was stated by The Station Officer (StnO) that about 800 yards from the station a pedestrian ran into the path of the appliance and then pointed to the rear. It was then seen that the Ff was ‘missing from his place and was lying in the road’. The speed of the appliance was said to be ‘30 to 35 mph’ and it was found that the Ff was ‘partly-dressed in his firefighting kit’ (Unknown author, 1950).
