Synopsis

Brief Synopsis

A firefighter (Ff) died due to cardiac arrest (House & Settle, 2016). It is not currently known what the mechanism of injury/medical condition was, e.g. whether this was a heart attack or other cause.

It is understood that the retained duty system (RDS) Ff was responding a fire call while he had been at the station already. The Ff after opening the doors to the station had gone to collect his equipment and ‘must have collapsed’ then. The fire engine attended the call, which turned out to be a false alarm while other Ffs found him under a table. They attempted resuscitate the Ff without success (Unknown Author, 1964).
