Synopsis

Brief synopsis

On the19th April 1965 a Leading Firefighter (LFf) died from injuries sustained following an appliance overturning following an RTC (House & Settle et al, 2017).

A part time (assumed to be retained duty system ((RDS)), LFf died and four other Firefighters (Ff) including a Sub Officer (SubO) were injured when the appliance they were travelling in, en route to a farmhouse fire, left the road, somersaulted, hit a tree and ended up in a field approximately 9 miles from Aboyne. ‘It was suggested at an on-the-spot investigation into the accident that Leading Fire-man Grant had opened the appliance door to try to jump clear but the vehicle had fallen on him’ (Unknown author/s, 1965. via Kirkwood, unknown date and Unknown author, 1965).
