Synopsis

Brief Synopsis

A Leading Firefighter (LFf) died due to the injuries sustained in an appliance road traffic accident when responding to a fire call. It is currently understood, but not confirmed, that the LFf was thrown from the appliance and struck by another vehicle (House & Settle, 2016).

Barlow, 1969, reports that ‘the driver of the appliance had to swerve hard to avoid a private car. The appliance hitting a lighting standard which fell across its roof’ (Barlow, 1969).
