Synopsis

Brief synopsis

On the 17th August 1975 a firefighter (Ff) died from head injuries sustained following a wall collapsing onto an aerial appliance, a hydraulic platform (HP), at a fire (House & Settle et al, 2017).

The wall collapsed while Ffs were tackling a fire at a food warehouse at Welham Green believed to be near Hatfield. The Ff was operating the HP at the time of the collapse. The 2 Ff’s in the cage were also injured (Unknown Author, 1975).
