Synopsis

Brief Synopsis

On the 6th November 1978 a firefighter (Ff) was killed, it is currently believed, when a bar that hose was hung over, was hauled up into the top of the hose drying tower after a drill, where some shuttering was dislodged. The shuttering fell onto the Ff, striking him on the head and breaking his neck. This has not been confirmed with certainty at this time and is based on anecdotal conversations (anecdotal conversation, 2018).

House & Settle record the incident as occurring during drills and the Ff being killed from crush injuries (House & Settle et al, 2017).
