Synopsis

Brief synopsis

On the 29th October 1978 a Firefighter (Ff) collapsed and died from a heart attack whilst pump operator at an incident (House & Settle et al, 2017).

This was the second fire that had stuck the hotel within 7 years, which had previously been destroyed by fire and later rebuilt. The top floor and second were badly damaged by fire. Another Ff from Lochgilphead suffered from a broken arm at the incident, it is not currently known how this was caused (Unknown author, 1978 via Kirkwood, 2018).
