Synopsis

Brief Synopsis

Kent Fire Brigade (KFB) were called to an incident where a domestic cat was stuck up a tree. A Leading Firefighter (LFf) fell out of the tree and was fatally injured during the course of the rescue (House & Settle et al, 2017).

According to Pearce & Masters, Circa 1998, an RSPCA inspector had requested fire service attendance to rescue a cat that had been up a tree for 3 nights in Tonbridge. The LFf climbed the tree and after rescuing the cat fell to the ground when a branch snapped. He received serious head injuries, was taken to hospital by ambulance where it was found he has suffered ‘irretrievable brain damage and died 6 days later’ (Pearce & Masters, Circa 1998).
