paid, in-person seminar followed by the IFES Members' Night, complimentary for all Singapore members.
Modern water systems are now employed in a wide variety of environments, including commercial and residential buildings, industrial facilities, marine, and transportation infrastructure. Technology’s versatility allows it to address a diverse array of fire risks, including new and emerging hazards. Many of the applications are traditionally protected with sprinkler or gaseous systems. With new fire risks and challenges in the new world, industry is accustomed to carrying out fire tests, enabling quick responses to new or evolving risks. Water mist systems are well-known in typical applications with performance-based fire safety design methods. Recent advancements have addressed fire safety issues related to cross-laminated timber (CLT) structures, tunnel protection, lithium-ion battery applications, power generation, aircraft hangers, data centers, various industrial risks, and complex steel and glass structures. Water mist systems have been getting more common in mitigating these new risks and demonstrating their abilities.
This seminar will discuss the adoption of first principles or fire safety engineering approach from the identification of fire scenarios, its effects and risks, the designs of water mist system and effectiveness proven by fire simulations and tests.
