Scotland branch - AGM & CPD Sessions

From our Scotland branch

Join us for this paid, in-person event in Glasgow. The Scotland branch AGM invites members to discuss branch topics, issues, vote on governance, and to attend two CPD sessions providing 2 combined hours of CPD.

Event 1: Towards a Structured Framework for Incorporating Travelling Fires in Structural Fire Design

This presentation will be delivered at the Scottish Branch of the IFE AGM and will focus on developing a structured methodology for incorporating travelling fire scenarios into UK performance-based structural fire engineering design. It integrates experimental evidence, analytical travelling fire models, and computational tools to demonstrate how current research can be applied in real building design.

The session will be delivered by Jorge Cisneros Gallegos, Fire Engineer at Stantec UK, who specialises in performance-based structural fire engineering and has contributed widely to industry conferences across Europe and Latin America.

Attendees will gain insight into how travelling fire research can be consistently applied within modern structural fire design, improving the link between fire science and practical engineering application.

Event 2: Cladding Remediation and the Single Building Assessment (SBA)

This presentation will provide an overview of the Scottish Government’s Single Building Assessment (SBA), which forms part of the Cladding Remediation Programme. The SBA sets out the approach for competent fire assessors to assess and improve the safety of residential buildings, particularly those with potentially unsafe cladding.

The session will be delivered by:
Jet Cameron, Head of Technical and Developer Agreements, Scottish Government Cladding Remediation.
Alexander McDonald, Building Project Manager, Scottish Government Cladding Remediation.

The speakers will outline the development and application of the SBA specification, including its governance under the Housing (Cladding Remediation) (Scotland) Act 2024, which came into force in January 2025.

Attendees will be brought up to date on the assessment process and its role in identifying and mitigating risks in affected residential buildings.
