Session overview
Paper 1: Understand Fire Risks, Hazards, and Mitigation Measures
This morning session establishes the fundamentals of fire safety by detailing the distinction between fire risks and fire hazards, as well as their practical impacts on modern and aging properties. The presentation explores key mitigation strategies and analyzes real-world fire incident case studies—such as external cladding disasters, high-rise residential building fires, and emerging hazards like Electric Vehicle (EV) and Lithium-ion Battery (LiB) fires. Additionally, it covers evacuation design case studies to demonstrate effective life safety planning.
Paper 2: Practical Approach in Fire Risk Assessment and Management
The afternoon session focuses on the execution of fire risk assessments to safeguard corporate assets, protect investments, and ensure business continuity beyond basic legal and regulatory compliance. It addresses how standard compliance alone is often insufficient for occupied and aging structures, outlining a structured framework for identifying vulnerabilities, evaluating risk severity, and implementing actionable risk management practices tailored for corporate and institutional environments.
