Dr Tony Cash CEng FIFireE

Tony is an independent Chartered Engineer with over 35 years’ experience in combustion science, fire engineering, life safety, emergency planning and regulatory compliance across road, rail, aviation, infrastructure, petrochemical and industrial sectors. He is internationally recognised for delivering practical, risk-based fire safety solutions for complex and high-hazard environments.

He holds a PhD in Physical Chemistry (fires, explosions and thermodynamics) from the University of Leeds and a BSc in Chemistry from the University of London. He is a Chartered Engineer, Chartered Chemist, European Chemist, Fellow of the Institution of Fire Engineers, and Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Tony has held senior positions with Heathrow Airport, Bombardier Transportation, Transport for London, the UK Civil Aviation Authority, Angus Fire and other specialist organisations. His experience includes fire strategies, fire risk assessments, evacuation analysis, fire testing, suppression systems, materials performance, asset management and safety assurance.

He represents the UK on European and international railway fire safety standards committees, serves as International President of the Rail Industry Fire Association, and is Chair of the IFE’s Transport Special Interest Group. Tony combines strategic leadership with technical expertise to support public and private sector clients on major transport, infrastructure and safety-critical projects.
