With over 20 years of experience in the fire engineering sector, Roy brings a wealth of expertise in statutory requirements and functional objectives of fire safety legislation.
Roy has worked for organisations such as the NHS, Arup, and is currently serving as Associate Director at Design Fire Consultants (DFC), leading their London Office.
In this role, Roy manages fire engineering projects from inception through to construction and handover. He also oversees the implementation of strategic companywide initiatives on behalf of the board. His focus includes advancing technical and process improvements, standardising outputs, cohesion across offices, recruitment and R&D initiatives.
Throughout his career, Roy has successfully led a number of significant projects including the redevelopment of 1-5 London Wall – a historic office building in the heart of London, Ed City, HMRC Unity Square, and work with the Science and History Museum.
Additionally, his role also involves conducting FRAEWs, and managing external wall remediation projects, where he provides expert advice to clients and stakeholders.
Roy contributed to Arup’s expert witness work following the Grenfell Tower fire, where he supported the onsite team responsible for evidence gathering, and provided valuable insights and technical expertise into understanding the incident.
As an active member of the IFE, Roy has chaired the Facade Special Interest Group (SIG) since its inception in 2021 and serves as a member of the technical panel, collaborating with committees to improve standards in fire engineering. He also volunteers as a Professional Report Reviewer and an IEng and CEng interviewer.
