Ryan is an experienced fire officer with over 20 years of service in both career and volunteer operational roles across multiple fire and rescue agencies in Australia. He holds a Master’s degree in Fire Safety Engineering, a Master’s in Science with a specialty in occupational safety, and an MBA from the University of Sydney. His expertise spans fire service operations and leadership, fire safety engineering, workplace safety, risk assessment, and occupational health.
Ryan has held fire safety assessment and advisory roles within both the fire services and private industry, including work with combustible cladding taskforces and evacuation planning for high-rise and other complex buildings. His diverse experience enables him to bridge operational response and technical fire safety solutions in high-risk environments.
Since 2019, Ryan has been an active member of the Institution of Fire Engineers Australia Board, serving in key leadership roles including Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President, President, and currently as Vice Lead of the IFE International General Assembly.
He is a strong advocate for collaboration and the exchange of knowledge across fire services, industry groups, and regions. Ryan believes the IFE is uniquely positioned to make a global impact through the connection of its international branches and strategic partnerships with aligned organisations worldwide.
