Shamsul is a senior assurance and risk leader with over 20 years’ experience in internal audit, enterprise risk and compliance across complex, highly regulated organisations.
He is currently Head of Internal Audit at Virgin Atlantic Airways, where he leads the group-wide internal audit function and is responsible for delivering independent assurance across the airline’s operations, technology, strategic programmes and governance. He works closely with executive leadership and the Audit Committee to provide insight on key risks, strengthen control environments and support organisational transformation.
Shamsul has extensive experience of working with boards and senior stakeholders, both in the UK and internationally, and has led significant initiatives to enhance risk reporting, embed data-led assurance, and improve compliance frameworks across global operations. In addition to his executive role, he is a member of Virgin Atlantic’s Safety and Security Review Board, contributing to oversight of critical safety and operational risks.
Shamsul is a qualified accountant and holds multiple professional certifications in audit, risk and information security. He is also actively involved in professional and community initiatives, including mentoring and supporting the development of future risk and assurance professionals.
