IFE champions future talent through National Careers Week 2026
This week, the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) is taking part in National Careers Week to explore and promote the range of roles available across the fire sector.
National Careers Week showcases the guidance and support available to young people for future career pathways. The IFE will be joining schools, colleges, universities and other organisations to showcase different possibilities.
Throughout the campaign, the IFE will be showcasing a series of interviews with members who share their career journeys, insights, and guidance for aspiring professionals. Alongside these case studies, the IFE has also produced a suite of practical resources in the form of job packs, covering career pathways across the fire sector—from fire response and compliance to design, systems, safety management and academia. These materials aim to inspire emerging talent by offering clear, accessible information about the breadth of opportunities available in the profession and you can check out the careers available to you here.
Reflecting on National Careers Week, IFE CEO, Steve Hamm, said: “Fire safety is far from a one-size-only career. It is wide open to a diverse skill set regardless of where you are in your career – whether you are just starting out or you have been in the same role for years.
“We need to encourage future generations to pursue their goals and careers that they desire. The IFE supports and nurtures all future talent. Fire safety careers play a vital part in building safety and the creation of safe, sustainable places for people to work, live and go about their lives."
The IFE is committed to developing future professionals. Through our Elevate webinars and annual Graduate Lecture, we provide learning, recognition and networking opportunities that help build skills and improve confidence. These initiatives highlight the IFE's ongoing investment as we mark National Careers Week from 2nd to 7th March.
