The IFE is pleased to confirm its new International Presidential team for the 2026-27 term.
The team represents the institution at the highest level, supporting our mission to advance fire safety across the globe. Together, the Presidential Team works in close partnership to foster collaboration, promote IFE’s global initiatives, and represent our growing international membership at major international functions and sector events.
Meet the team
Mark Reilly AFSM CMIFireE has taken up the role of International President following a year as International President Elect. A longstanding and highly committed member of the IFE, Mark has played active roles supporting his local branch in Australia, including serving as a Trustee on both the main IFE board and the Australia branch board. In addition, he has undertaken the role of International General Assembly Leader, demonstrating his dedication to strengthening engagement across our global community.
On his appointment, Mark said: “I am honoured to take on the role of International President for the year ahead and to work alongside such a committed and experienced team. Together, we will continue to build on the strong foundations already in place, advancing the institution’s mission and supporting our global membership.
“I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to James Lane for his leadership and dedication over the past year. His contribution has been instrumental in strengthening the institution’s impact, and I look forward to building on this success in the months ahead.”
Mark is supported by Russ Timpson whom we are delighted to announce as the 2026-27 International President Elect. Russ is the founder of the Tall Building Fire Safety Network established in 2009 to improve fire safety within the tall building environment. A former Royal Navy submariner and firefighter, he is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the IFE. Following his fire service career, Russ worked in the aviation sector playing key roles in major airport infrastructure projects and fire response. He now works as a consulting resilience engineer and expert witness.
In the role of International President Elect, Russ will work closely with Mark to strengthen the team’s leadership capacity and help ensure seamless transitions between presidential terms.
Both Mark and Russ will be supported by the Past International President James Lane. James will be on hand to support the wider team with a handover of key priorities, initiatives and stakeholder relationships, alongside ongoing guidance based on their experience. He will also be available in an advisory capacity, offering insight to support effective decision-making.
