The Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) is delighted to announce that nominations are now open for the role of Vice Leader of the International General Assembly (IGA).
This is an exciting opportunity for an engaged and forward-thinking member to help shape the future direction of the IGA, represent the global voice of the institution, and contribute to discussions on the most significant fire-related issues impacting communities around the world.
About the International General Assembly
The IFE is uniquely positioned through its worldwide network of branches and groups, enabling us to gather valuable fire-related insights from a broad range of specialisms, sectors and geographic regions.
Each IFE branch and group appoints an IGA member from within its committee or branch council. Together, these representatives form the International General Assembly, providing a forum for collaboration, knowledge sharing and debate on matters of global importance to the fire sector.
Through multilateral and cross-sector discussions, the IGA helps to enhance our understanding of global fire-related challenges and opportunities, supporting the institution's mission to create a safer world from fire.
About the role
The IGA is led by the IGA Leader and Vice Leader, who work closely with the IFE's Membership and Registration Committee to ensure their activities align with and support the strategic aims of the institution.
As Vice Leader, you will have the opportunity to:
- Support the IGA Leader in coordinating IGA activities and priorities
- Facilitate discussion, engagement and knowledge sharing across the IGA
- Work with IFE members and volunteers from around the world
- Help identify and discuss emerging issues affecting fire engineering and fire safety
- Act as an ambassador for the IGA and the IFE
- Contribute to the continued development and success of the IGA
The Vice Leader serves a two-year term commencing on 1 January. At the end of this term, they will automatically progress to the role of IGA Leader for a further two years, offering an exceptional opportunity to provide leadership, influence global discussions, and help shape the future direction of the IFE's international community.
