Call for nominations for IFE’s 2021 Trustee elections

We invite nominations for two Trustees to serve an initial three-year term of office on the IFE Board of Directors to take up office from the AGM in November 2021.

Trustees of the charity have an overriding duty to advance the purposes of the IFE and are responsible for its strategic development and management. Trustee legal responsibilities include:

  • Acting in the IFE's best interest
  • Acting with care and diligence
  • Managing any conflict of interest
  • Complying with IFE's governing documents and the law

The IFE is a registered company and Scottish registered charity; the Scottish charity regulator has published a guide for charity trustees which can be found here.

Eligibility requirements

Members eligible to stand for election must be a paid-up voting member (Life Fellow, Fellow, Member, Associate, Graduate or Technician), and not be disqualified from acting as a Trustee.

Deadline for submitting your completed nomination

All nominations and supporting information must be submitted to company.secretary@ife.org.uk by 12noon BST on 31 July 2021. Late or incomplete applications will be void. Please refer to the nomination form for more details.

Ballot process

In accordance with our Articles of Association, no nominees may go forward to the ballot unless they have been recommended by the Nominations Committee. The criteria which the Committee will use to determine which nominees should go forward to the ballot are set out on the nomination form.

If there are more nominations recommended by the Nominations Committee than vacancies, a ballot for contested vacancies will be conducted online and the result will be communicated to members at the AGM. Should a ballot be required all eligible members will be sent instructions by email of how to vote. Please ensure your email address that we have on record for you is correct; to check your details please log in to the MyIFE portal.
